I’m writing this journal from a packed Australian cafe in Manhattan sipping on a latte as the city is slowly waking up. There are yellow taxis buzzing around, Grandmothers walking their poodles, and gals in activewear off to pilates.
I’m in NYC hosting intimate events and meeting with health and beauty editors.
I absolutely love meeting our US community over here, and sharing our science-led range of products and the feedback I am receiving is extraordinary.
It’s true that when traveling it can be extra difficult to slip in the Rituals for Wellness that make us feel more grounded and balanced.
I’ve definitely dropped pretty much most of the rituals I’d do daily when back home and have noticed the difference in my skin, digestion, and energy - and it’s a great reminder that even little adjustments can add up to making a big impact.
Here are my Rituals for Wellness, New York Edition:
01. EATING THE RAINBOW
I seek out as many rainbow colours as I can, wherever in the world I am. Sometimes this looks like buying whole veggies and snacking on them and having an apple in my handbag and other times this means buying a ready-made salad.
When we eat the rainbow of colourful foods, we are getting antioxidants, fiber and prebiotics - really important for gut and skin health.
Often when we travel we don't have the fiber we need, which leads to downstream discomfort, if you know what I mean - fiber is your friend!
02. COLLAGEN SCULPTING, ON THE GO!
Less sleep, more travel = more inflammation.
My 24-karat gold plated Collagen Sculpting Tool has been my best friend. 2 min is all you really need, and being battery operated, you can even do it in the back of an uber or on the school run (I do all the time!)
03. MOVEMENT
Having a packed schedule, it's been harder to get to a pilates class, or even do it on YouTube - and what I find my body craves more is just simple movement.
Having a rooftop and getting the sun on the skin is also a huge Ritual for Wellness that makes a difference to the sleep:wake cycle, ensuring I can get to sleep quicker.
04. WALKING
I feel like this is one of the most underrated Ritual for Wellness. I’ve averaged 10,000 steps a day in NYC, just simply getting from A to B and it feels really good. When there is less time for “structured” workouts, walking is the perfect antidote.
So, next time, consider taking the stairs, walking an extra block to the next bus stop or bike riding to get your groceries - walking is free and so good for the body and soul.
05. PROBIOTICS
Probiotics are the good bacteria that our microbiome needs to thrive. Our Beauty Renewal Probiotic Concentrate contains the goodness of billions of probiotics per serve and with hydrating coconut water and grapeseed extract, it's the perfect elixir for digestion, gut health, and skin radiance.
When I don't have this, I really, really notice it and miss it.
Stay tuned for the next edition of Rituals for Wellness, LA Edition! Tell me, which will you incorporate this week? Love, Felicity xo
